He sits.
Never moving.
Never blinking.
Staring at the stark white wall in front of him.
His face, expressionless.
His eyes, glazed.
His mind, gone.
This man, has gone mad.
Madness, a Word derived from another so different in definition.
Or, pErhaps not.
Perhaps it's definition is quite fitting.
After all mAdness, it's derivative is mad.
Mad, to feel angeR.
To feEl rage.
But, what is rage?
Rage, anger, are just blanket emotions for things much deeper.
Things such as sorrow, regret, and hurt.
So, is mAdness simply an expression of our pain?
After aLl, it only takes so much pain to drive a man mad.
Is it truLy insanity?
Or is it what we must resort to in order to cope with the agony life has dealt us?
So I ask you now.
Is this man truly mad?
Or is it that he has nothing left?
And has chosen the most sane option to continue existing?
I ask you.
Is it mad to continue gripping on the thing you love most?
To cling to the memories of love lost?
To reminisce and dream of days past?
Knowing that they are long gone.
I cannot say, but you tell me.
Is that mad?
Is this man insane?
Or is he broken?
Shattered, unable to piece back together what he has lost?
Is he mad, or just too sad to go on?
Has the sorrow collapsed his mind inward, and given him his long awaited bliss?
Unable to think.
Unable to remember.
Unaware of his surroundings.
Unaware of his mind's ailment.
After all, the truly Mad, are unaware they are such.
So, is mAdness truly a curse?
Or a blessing in Disguise, freeing those who no longer have the strength to continue longing for what they have lost?
And now I ask you.
Is tHis man a prisoner?
Or has hE achieved the ultimate fReedom?
